22nd Annual Celebration Show

The Pure Puerto Rican
Paso Fino Federation held its 22nd Annual Celebration Show “The
Beat Goes On” August 22nd and 23rd, 2009 at the Hippodrome in
North Augusta, South Carolina. Exhibitors traveled with their
horses from states as far away as Texas, Arkansas and
Pennsylvania to compete in this year’s show which proved to be
stiff competition among the best of the naturally gaited Pure
Puerto Rican Paso Finos in the U.S. The show was reported to be
one of the best in years with quality horses, lots of
camaraderie and plenty of fun.
Exhibitors winning
the championship classes received impressive trophies and lovely
tote bags imprinted with the show log along with beautiful
floral sashes bestowed to their champion horses. The
championship trophies were generously donated by Ramon Bodon of
Kofresi Royal Farm in Killeen, Texas.

de Pride/Gail & James Brown.

The Blind Justice Class winner was Posiedon de Pride,
owner Diane Black and the Excellence of Gait Class was
awarded to Boricano de America, owner Dr. Joe Padilla.
Other awards presented included : Trainer of the
Year - Alexis Sutton honored for her outstanding devotion
to the Pure Puerto Rican Paso Fino breed. Alexis was also
commended for her outstanding team spirit, commitment to
sportsmanship and promotion of the breed in and out of the show
arena. Horse of the Year - Posiedon de Pride, owned by
Diane Black. Posiedon earned the most points in Federation fun
shows during the year. Best Stall Decoration award went
to Ann Gilpatrick of Evergreen Paso Fino Farm. Furthest
Traveled award went to Gay Campbell from Pennsylvania. It
was also noted that spectators were from various surrounding
states.
Two drawings also took place. Luminoso de Pride was the lucky
exhibiting horse winning a saddle. A ticket was given to each
horse for each class registration. A raffle was also held for a
beautiful quilt donated by Gay Campbell. Tom and Dr. Maggie
Johnson and their daughter Emily took home the lovely quilt.
The Federation show
committee would like to thank everyone for their support and
participation in making this year’s show a huge success. An open
invitation is extended to next year’s show which they plan to be
even bigger and better.
